Cibola Farms uses Tamworth pigs, a heritage breed that does not work well in confinement operations and needs lots of open space to produce well. The pigs work in conjunction with the goats to turn overgrown pastures back into bison ready grass production. They are also used to help keep existing pastures healthy, turn the soil in the garden and root up old stumps. Tamworth pigs are very tall and lean compared with today's traditional pigs. They make great homestead pigs for those interested in raising one or two pigs for the kitchen table.
